Economic analysis of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) in chemical tank corrosion protection

After a chemical plant tank was coated with PVDF, environmental tests with 98% sulphuric acid + 50°C showed no penetration for 48 hours (ASTM D1308 standard). The initial cost of the coating was 2.5 times that of conventional epoxy resin, but the total cost was reduced by 35 per cent over a 10-year life cycle, mainly due to zero-maintenance properties and resistance to wet and dry alternation (GB/T 9274)
